The Celebrities Who Are Cleaning Their Own Homes In Lockdown

During the current coronavirus crisis, sales of cleaning products have doubled as we become more stringent about cleaning.

It’s not just the everyday public who have been scrubbing their homes though – lockdown has meant that celebrities all over the world have been doing their own cleaning. Nicole Sherzinger posted pictures of herself mopping the floor, Victoria Beckham has become obsessed with the dishwasher, and even Joan Collins appeared in Hello! polishing the windows. This may not have been out of choice, but we do appreciate seeing them on social media, sharing their cleaning struggles.

Ivanka Trump

Cleaning is essential to help prevent the spread of coronavirus. It will kill the virus and stop it from being passed on to others. Seeing celebrities doing their own cleaning and laundry has felt like a great equalizer. However, with stories like those about Donald Trump’s daughter, Ivanka, things aren’t so simple. She recently made an attempt to educate the public about the importance of hygiene during the pandemic. On Instagram Ivanka even posted educational videos of her children, Theodore, Joseph and Arabella following a hand washing routine and encouraging us to practice sensible hygiene, saying, “We all have a role to play in stopping the spread.” Whilst this may be true, we don’t all use Aesop Soap at $39 a bottle to do our cleaning. There was a huge backlash online, with her followers being particularly dismayed at the amount of water that was wasted.

Gwyneth Paltrow

Gwyneth Paltrow, the star of the pandemic movie Contagion, has been sharing on Instagram how her family have been coping with lockdown, including tackling the cleaning and the cooking. Along with children Apple and Moses, Paltrow has been busy keeping everything sparkling at home. In fact Paltrow has been interviewed for Harper’s Bazaar about her obsession with keeping things neat and tidy. She is well known for going on cleaning frenzies and couldn’t possibly go to sleep at night if there were dirty dishes in her sink. Clean living has always been high up on her agenda, if her Goop website and brand is anything to go by, and during quarantine things are no different.

Lisa Rinna

Lisa Rinna is the celebrity with plenty of cleaning experience that has stood her in good stead during the lockdown. She’s normally obsessing about the germs and bacteria in hotels and on airplanes, though. Lisa has been sharing her quarantine experiences on Instagram, with her husband Harry Hamlin. Along with doing the household cleaning, she’s also been binge watching The Tiger King, Ozark and Babylon Berlin, whilst wearing sweatpants. Harry has been doing the majority of the cooking, creating meals like Spaghetti Bolognese, Chicken Piccata and Tacos.

Watching celebrities getting on with their own cleaning during quarantine has been a great leveler (mostly). They are sending the message that cleaning can help prevent the spread of coronavirus, and we are all in this together.
